Music has always been a strong characteristic of the Olympic Games; Olympic songs create as much of an imprint as the events themselves. Therefore, it isn't hard to imagine the excitement around the most important: the Olympic theme song. The Malay version of the much anticipated Beijing Olympic theme song, titled Olimpik Di Beijing was recorded in Chinese Taipei and Malaysia. The recording process took roughly three months to complete. The song is composed of 38 acts from Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, involving popular singers such as Michael Wong and Malaysia-born Penny. Michael Wong, the only soloist in the Malay version of the theme song, expressed his delight at being a part of music history. He is very excited about being able to do his part to support the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The Malay version of the Olympic theme song follows the already recorded versions in other languages: Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, and English
